This book is wonderful! Fascinating history of the color black - in my opinion this book is a must read for anyone involved in art or art history. I got this book for a natural dyes class I was conducting and it was extremely insightful on how the color black was achieved by past artisans. I've read one other book by Michel Pastoureau and now am constantly on the lookout for books he has written- they are very expensive, but I think well worth the cost. Lovely images included in all of his books!

Excellent history of the development and symbolism of the color black.
It's a good coffee table book and my sister has already asked to borrow it. I like that I can open it up anywhere and be engaged in the history.
